Dell 90W AC Adaptor cannot be regognized

I own a a Dell inspiron 9300 -- I am on my second 90W-AC power adaptor -- I was on a business trip and suddenly the computer no longer "recornizes" the power adaptor and will not charge the battery. I read on the net they put some kone od chip in the adaptor to recognize the computer adaptor match -- now the portability of the laptop is useless -- it will not charge the battery -- likely I have to buy a third adaptor -- why doesn't my computer
"recognize" that the chip failed and send a message to deal to send my another one? -- Dell you suck.
